But did you know that aside from tasting great, watermelon juice is also filled with goodness that works wonders on your health? It is rich in Vitamins B and C, contains folate, beta-carotene, and minerals like calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and potassium. This one is a no-brainer. Given its cooling effect, a glass of watermelon juice is effective in helping you beat the heat. If you are feeling dizzy from an outing in the sun or from the sheer heat in your environment, just down a glass of watermelon juice with a pinch of sugar and salt. This will automatically replenish the lost water, salts and minerals and revitalize you in no time!

Keeps the Heart Healthy

Watermelon is rich in lycopene – the pigment that is responsible for lending it the rich red colour. On consuming watermelon juice, this pigment is released into the bloodstream and helps fight free radicals that damage the vital organs, especially the heart.

Prevents Fluid Retention and Bloating

Watermelon, as the name suggests, is full of water. Naturally, it has a diuretic effect that helps in flushing out toxins and excessive fluid in the body. Drinking a glass of watermelon juice once in few days is especially beneficial for pregnant women who are plagued with the problem of bloating and water retention in the body.

Relieves Constipation

Watermelon, with all of its fiber enables faster bowel movement and eases constipation. If you are suffering from it, then it is a good idea to replace one snack with a big glass of watermelon juice. One of the other benefits of watermelon juice in this case, is that it will fill you up – the perfect answer for that odd-hour hunger pang.

Helps with Weight Loss

Among the most important benefits of watermelon juice is the fact that it is a great companion if you are on your way to losing weight. Being packed with water and fibers, a glass of watermelon juice fills you up, without adding much to your daily calorie intake. Since it also gets rid of bloating and constipation alongside, don?t forget to make it a part of your diet when you are trying to lose weight.

Hydrates the Skin

Again, owing to rich fluid content and the lycopene pigment in it, watermelon juice is beneficial in keeping your skin hydrated and healthy. If you notice your skin becoming dull and lifeless due to lack of water in the body, we?d suggest that you consume a glass of watermelon juice every day for a week. The juice will replenish the liquids in the body and leave your skin soft and supple.

Your Friend During Pregnancy

During your pregnancy, consuming a glass of watermelon juice can help you ease problems like heartburn, morning sickness and swelling of feet at bay. Given these benefits of watermelon juice, it is advisable to regularly consume watermelon juice in case you are pregnant. Not only is it refreshing, but is also nourishing for your baby.

Now that you have seen the multifarious benefits of watermelon juice, here?s how to make a healthy glass of juice.

You will need

  • A few slices of watermelon, deseeded
  • Two mint leaves
  • A pinch of salt
  • A dash of honey, optional

Given that watermelon is already full of water, it is not necessary to add water further into the juice. We recommend that you don?t add sugar to the drink since the fruit is already very sweet. If you still prefer your juice sweet, you can add a dash of honey to it. We also love adding a pinch of salt and a couple of mint leaves in our juice for that extra zing! To make the juice, simply blitz all the ingredients in your juicer/mixer. DO NOT STRAIN THE JUICE – you want to preserve all those fibers! Simply transfer into a tall glass and say cheers to great health!
