Fruits and vegetables should be a major part of your daily food habit. Lots of green veggies like cabbage, broccoli, and green leafy vegetables are a great source of vitamins and essential nutrients that your body requires. Fruits like apple and papaya are recommended for all kinds of patients including diabetics. These fiber-rich foods are well known to prevent heart disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity and such foods improve your digestive system.
Cereals, nuts, dairy products, fish, and meat are very rich in protein. But if you consume beyond a limit, then it falls under the fat food category. Protein rich foods are a great source of energy to your body and mind. It is this protein that gets converted into energy which in turn keeps you active throughout the day.
Fish is very important since it has Omega 3 fatty acids in it. Vegetarians can go for Cauliflower and walnuts. Dry fruits should be a part of your balanced diet but limited amount only. Pistachios and cashew nuts are very rich in cholesterol but if you take the right amount then they are a great source of energy to your body. When it comes to dairy products, we tend to consume a lot of cheese and butter. They should be a part of your food but only twice a week. You can also prefer fat-free cheese.

I can understand that these foods are mouth watering and very tempting, but they are sure to gift you with you diabetes, obesity, hypertension and heart attack. It is a definite must that you avoid these foods from your daily diet. You tend to become obese when you eat such food. You can have these kinds of food once in a while. Breakfast: 2 Rhotis with dhal or 3 Idlies with a dish. [Avoid adding oil /ghee to rhotis]
Forenoon: Fruit salads or a fruit a day will do well. [Fruit juices do not have fiber in them. They serve no good purpose]. You can also have a Handful of nuts.
Lunch: A cup of rice and lots of veggies. You can also have salads but avoid oil toppings; salt and pepper is enough. Boil the veggies or greens without straining the water and sauté in few drops of oil.
Dinner: You can again go for idly or rhoti. Wheat rava [samba rava] can also be the best choice. End the day with a glass of milk.
